THE ISOMED MISSION

Measurement of ranges of motion are essential in establishing prognosis and treatment plans, monitoring progress of disease, response to treatment and outcome assessment. They are important in determining maximum medical improvement and evaluation of impairment and disability. Standardized measurements support and objectify medical reports, provide legal evidence in forensic cases and allow worldwide comparison and analysis of research studies.

Measurements of joint motion should be scientifically sound, accurate reliable, comparable, practical and fast. To achieve this objective, it is necessary that the measuring method, documentation system, gravity related starting positions, the features of instruments and the measuring techniques be standardized and that a proper training program be implemented.

John J. Gerhardt, M.D. addressed all of these issues through 50 years of research, development and practical application. The result is the standardization of clinical and x-ray film measurements; they are promoted by ISOMED, Inc.

ISOMED products appeal to physicians, vascular surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, hand surgeons, physiatrists, radiologists, specialists in occupational medicine, sports medicine and rheumatology, chiropractors, impairment and disability evaluators, the legal profession, physical therapists, occupational therapists, prosthetists, orthotists and researchers.
